R25M FUND SET ASIDE FOR REHABILITATION OF SINKHOLES IN SOUTH AFRICA

R25m funds has been approve for the rehabilitation of sinkholes in the city of Tshwane.

City of Tshwane in south africa has set aside the sum of R25M for the rehabilitation of sinkholes. The sinkholes which has been a major challenge due to it was included in the budget.

The city has been looking for ways to develop funds for the project which kick-off in 2017. Meanwhile the fund develop and repair all the sinkholes in the city. According to report, there are  31 sinkholes in various parts areas of the City.

Member of the mayoral committee (MMC) for roads and transport Sheila Senkubuge said It is important to note that sinkholes can occur naturally over time. She also said a process that would prioritise sinkholes had also been develop.”

The phase one stage of the process will be completed by the end of August and the road would be open partially. Meanwhile geological investigations was perform before the construction of the various sinkholes.

MMC Williams said “The engineers tell us whether it is suitable for a certain type of dwelling to be built. He also said the decision was made from base on the particular land.

The city will focus on preventive measures and try to upgrade the various facilities. This will help avoid any sinkholes in the future.
