RESIDENTS COMPLAIN ABOUT NAWEC INABILITY IN GAMBIA

Residents of the Greater Banjul Area and West Coast Region in The Gambia has complain to the government about National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) inability to service them.

The people of the area has been suffering from inadequate water and electricity supply for a very long time and has asked the government in Gambia to take action.

They lamented about the frequent power cuts and water shortage, something they believes, is even discouraging potential investors in the country.

Speaking to a local media, a resident named Alhagie Bayo said The government of The Gambia, should encourage the energy companies from other countries to come and establish in the country so that NAWEC would have a competitors in the energy sector.

Another resident named Mariama Kujabi, said the government is lacking from that perspective because some of the areas within the Greater Banjul Area will not have supply of electricity and water for some time.

Meanwhile, Lamin Jadama from West Coast Region said “The demand for electricity is very high and some areas are there without no electricity and potable drinking water. We are hearing the OMVG project from the government maybe if that project is finish the electricity problem will be a thing of the past in the country.”

With the complained now laid by this residents, a feedback is surely established from the government of the Gambia as urgent attention is needed to solve a major problem affecting it’s citizens.
