ROAD DUALIZATION LINKING LAMU PORT HALF-WAY COMPLETE

Kenya’s PDU announced progress status of Lamu-witu-Garsen road dual carriage.

Kenya’s Presidential Delivery Unit (PDC) has announced progress report for Lamu-Witu-Garsen road via its official twitter handle. According to the tweet, the 10-km dual-carriage that will link the port which is part of the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia (LAPSSET) is nearly half-way complete.

On the other hand, the project will further complement the National Government efforts to position Lamu as an important regional and international trading port. As well as open up the region to greater opportunities for commerce and trade.

Upon completion, the road will ease transport to and from the Lamu deep seaport that has the capacity to dock some of the world’s largest cargo ships and oil tankers. It will also provide employment opportunities to local youths and Kenyans drawn from other parts of the country who are providing both skilled and semi-skilled labour.
