SA OR NIGERIA TO BECOME TRUECALLER’S AFRICA HEADQUARTER’S

 Truecaller executives to visit SA and Nigeria in search for their Africa headquarter following the tremendous growth they had across Africa.

On Wednesday Truecaller announced that they’re on a move to increase its presence on the continent making Africa a key priority region. Truecaller is also shopping for a great city to build its Africa headquaters.

In Africa, Truecaller tends to be one of the fastest growing consumer apps and for the past two years it has topped the App store charts across the continent.

The app allows people to see who’s calling and it also filter’s out spam calls and SMS. The app has 50 million users in Africa and monthly it is helping users block more that half a billion spam calls in the region.

According to a recent study conducted by Truecaller, South Africa and Nigeria that is Africa’s two biggest economies tends to have the highest number of unwanted spam calls.  Kenya and Egypt followed the two as top 20 countries in the world that is plagued by unwanted spam calls.

Quoting the chief commercial officer at Truecaller, Ted Nelson ”The tremendous growth we’ve had across Africa the past two years has truly been amazing and yet we feel it is still only the starting point of what is about to come”

He added that ”With the positive momentum, we are confident this is the right timing for us to expand our presence and start engaging more deeply with the eco-system”.

Truecaller executives will visit Nigeria and South Africa at the beginning of November in search for a location to set up their Africa headquarters, and start its recruiting process for two directors to join the company in the form of a Business Development Director and a Sales Director.

Truecaller also announced that it will be launching its Developer Program for Africa starting with its mobile identity product, Truecaller SDK.
