STATE OF ERITREA- THE HIDDEN GEM OF AFRICA

Eritrea is a Northeast African country on the red sea coast. It is bordered by Sudan in the west, Ethopia in the south and Djibouti in the southeast. It was an Italian colony from 1890 – 1947 before the British took over. A war of independence broke out and eventually got their independence in 1993. It’s Independence Day is one of the most important public holidays in the country. They mark it May 24 every year.

In Eritrea, you must apply  to the government in other to own a mobile phone.

The country has no official language.

It is the first country in world to turn an entire coast line into an environmentally protected zone.

It is the only country in the world which has not had actual an election because  they always end up canceling .

There are two universities in Eritrea, the University of Asmara and the Institute of Science and Technology.

The name Eritrea relates to that of the Red Sea, then called the Erythræan Sea, from the Greek for “red”, ἐρυθρός, erythros.

After Egypt, it has the second highest archaeological historical discoveries in Africa.
