STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS – PRESIDENT KENYATTA
President Uhuru Kenyatta addresses a special sitting of the two Houses of Parliament and the entire nation of Kenya
State of the Nation Address (abbreviated as #SOTNKe2019) is an annual event in the Republic of Kenya, in which the President reports on the status of the nation. In his address, President Uhuru Kenyatta speaks on his achievements and plan towards building a stronger Kenya. Understanding that Kenya is an unfinished work, He is fully confident that his government we will be able to tackle any challenge.
From his speech, we were able to gather these key highlights that indicate His plan for infrastructural development.
Electricity
“To provide reliable and cost-effective electricity that meets current and future demand, we have put in place measures to accelerate the development of the entire power generation, electricity transmission and supply infrastructure.”
Health Care
“Over the past years, my Administration has progressively increased financing for our health sector and implemented several initiatives, aimed at promoting equity and targeting those most vulnerable amongst our population.”
Housing
“Majority of Kenyans don’t have an opportunity to own a home and we are living in a scenario where as a country we have less than 500,000 people who have mortgages since independence. This is why we have Affordable Housing programme.”
Manufacturing
“As we continue the journey of building a better Kenya with shared prosperity for all, we have prioritized manufacturing as one of the critical sectors for wealth and employment creation under the Big Four Agenda”
Rail
“We are working on putting in place a proper system that will ensure thousands of people move freely using an urban commuter rail system and a BRT. Our target is to have 500,000 commuters moving freely daily within the next 12 months.”
