In a bid to promote the much needed support for the dam, Ethiopian Diaspora Association has called on the diaspora to strengthen their support to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). The call was made by Ethiopian Diaspora Association Chief Executive Officer, Abraham Seyoum, who stated that the support can either be through various forms of assistance, including financial and diplomatic efforts. Remittances from Nigerian Diasporas hits US$24 billion in 2018 Remittances from diasporas of Africa’s most populated country – Nigeria in 2018 reached US$24.3 billion. This is the highest figure across Sub-Saharan Africa and it is also US$2 billion higher than the inflows in 2017.
