The first consignment of 100-kilometer pipes for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has arrived in Dar es Salaam Port, signaling the initiation of the main construction phase for the cross-border pipeline project. EACOP will transport crude oil from the Lake Albert region of Uganda to the Chongoleani peninsula near Tanga in Tanzania, where it can access world markets. UGANDA GOVT. HANDOVER LICENCE TO EACOP FOR CONSTRUCTION OF OIL PIPELINE

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, whilst attending the Kingfisher drilling inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, has also witnessed the handover of the license to Construct the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). The handover was done by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, (MEMD) Ruth Nankabirwa, at the Kingfisher Oil Fields, at Buhuka, Kyangwali, Kikuube District.
