Tanzania’s government has reiterated its commitment to implementing a plan of generating 200MW from geothermal by 2025. Currently, is in dire need to diversify its electricity mix similar to other countries in East Africa. Energy Permanent Secretary Eng Felchesmi Mramba said Tanzania has identified 52 areas that could produce geothermal power. UK will invest over USD 65.7 million into renewable energy projects in selected African countries. The projects include solar farms in Kenya, geothermal power stations in Ethiopia and clean energy storage in sub-Saharan Africa. Kenya’s 700MW geothermal power generation increases its world ranking topping some technological giants.  Renewable Global Status ranked Kenya 9th globally in geothermal power generating capacity with a capacity of 700MW.
