Protests halt CBG’s Bauxite mining operations in Guinea

Protesters who blocked and barricaded roads and train tracks in the town of Kamsar following persistent electricity cuts, have caused Guinean Bauxite mining Company CBG to halt its operations. The roadblocks and barricaded train tracks ensured CBG’s workers were unable to reach its mines to work. One CBG official when interviewed said “Everything is stopped. Zambia has launched construction of the 321-kilometer Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway that connects the southern and central parts of the country to the mining towns in the Copperbelt province.
