TANZANIA GOVERNMENT SET TO USE NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR ROAD PROJECTS

New technology to help the road sector after first trial was successful in Tanzania.

Tanzania government is set to have a new way of construction different road projects. The new pilot technology uses soil stabilization which is also cost-effective and help improve infrastructure.

The technology has already witness a breakthrough after a road linking Rukaragata to Biharamulo town was construct. It was worth a total of Sh39 million which enable individuals to enter Biharamulo District.

Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office, Josephat Kandege said “The pilot was the first in the country. He also said the road is capable of taking more than five years without getting harm.”

The road will serve total of 4,000 residents from the neighbouring wards of Rukaragata and Rubondo. It will also serve individuals that are outside the Biharamulo town. The road project is from a funding by The Royal Embassy of the Netherlands in collaboration with Kagera Region.

Netherlands ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Jeroem Verheul said “The project will be hand over to constructors and engineers from Tarura for countrywide scale up. He also said his tour of Kagera Region is to find investment opportunities in agriculture.”

The Netherlands’ government is also funding Kagera Livestock Development Programme and rural dairy cattle projects. It is part of plans by the Royal Embassy to help curb the diseases that affect animals in this region.

The project will help the region which is the  second poorest in Tanzania due to lack of proper infrastructure that serves the farmers.
