TANZANIA MINISTER DIRECT CONTRACTORS TO FINISH HYDROPOWER PROJECT ON TIME
Contractor handling the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP) has been ordered by the nation’s Minister for energy to finish the project on time.
Dr Medard Kalemani issued the warning after he toured the facility as he was unimpressed with the level of work been carried-out on the project.
The contractors, JV Arab Contractors Company and Elsewedy Electric handling the 2,115MW-power project has been ordered to hire more professional workers to speed up the work and completed the project by June 14, 2022.
Quoting Kalemani, “Generally, the project is going on well, but there are some few areas that need more attention. That is why I have told the contractor to bring those professionals immediately,”
He further noted that the completion of the project would be significant in government’s efforts to end power woes and rural electrification.
