THE NEW ONDO STATE SEAPORT.

Ondo State moves one step towards the construction of the new seaport at Ilaje local government.

Plans for the construction of the new seaport in Ondo State has been concluded. The aim of the port is to enlarge the states investment options. The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu announced it after the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was signed with a member of the Dubai’s ruling family, His Highness Sheikh Dalmook Al Maktoum.

“The government has sought out collaboration of the United Arab Emirates’ Dubai in developing Ondo State and widening its investment horizon,” said Governor Rotimi.

According to the MoU, both Federal and State government will work together to achieve this project. Hence, the seaport is to be located are the coastal end of Ondo State.

Complete feasibility study on the deep seaport at Ilaje local government area has been done and sent to the Nigeria Port Authority (NPA).

Therefore, upon completion it will not only enhance the state and country’s economy but also free up the Apapa seaport.

Also the MoU covers : development of Oil Blocks and Strategic Storage Terminals, cashless solutions for internally generated revenues (IGR).
