LINCOLN UNIVERSITY TO HOST THIS YEAR ROYAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEER
The University of Lincoln will host this year’s East Midlands regional lecture on April 17th 2018. Professor Sarah Hainsworth FREng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Aston University will deliver the talk.
Forensic science encompasses a diverse range of scientific subjects where the research is used to support the law and legal practice. Engineering is one of the disciplines that can contribute to our understanding of forensic practice by applying engineering tools and techniques to the understanding of particular problems.
The talk will show how applying micro-CT and scanning electron microscope techniques can be used to identify implements in dismemberment cases and forces used in stabbing attacks. Additionally, Professor Hainsworth will show how modern forensic techniques contributed to the investigation of the remains of Richard III.
