TOGO SOLAR POWER PLANT BECOMES WEST AFRICA LARGEST AFTER LATEST UPGRADE

AMEA Power, a renewable energy company in the Middle East, recently announced the expansion of the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Solar Power Plant in Togo from 50MW to 70MW. This will make it the largest solar PV plant in West Africa.

The project, located in the village of Blitta, will power more than 222,000 households and include a 4WMh Battery Energy Storage System. This will extend the availability of clean energy to the electricity network at night.

The project is part of Togo’s National Development Plan, intending to provide universal access to electricity by 2030.

Under the terms of the financing agreement, the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) was established by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to provide the Togolese Ministry of Economy and Finance with a loan of $25 million to finance the complex’s expansion and battery storage addition.
