It quite sad when nature is been affected when it comes to infrastructural development because the impact will surely be felt in the future.

However, the present situation should never be ignored, that is why the tree are been cut down to pave way for the concrete road.

The decision to continue with the project has received protests by Kenyans on social media and other platforms expressing their disappointment over the manner of the felling of the trees and even a petition to stop the destruction, but the government seems undeterred.

An environmentalist, Elizabeth Wathuti has warned that the future generations will pay for the destruction of trees which provided good scenery and shade in addition to their environmental benefits to pave way for development.

Meanwhile, Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) corporate communications director Charles Njogu said they have a policy of planting four trees for every one cut down and this will also apply in this instance. That there is no road that has ever been built on top of a tree.
