Zimbabwe becomes world’s most expensive place to fuel a car.

Africa is championing the list of world’s most expensive place to fuel a car courtesy of Zimbabwe. The question is how the this come to be?

Back in 2017, before the stepping down of President Robert Mugabe; Zimbabweans held a mass protest over a deteriorating economy and poor standards of living.

Fast forward 2019, the current administration led by President Emerson Mnagagwa is facing a far more greater challenge. The country’s two largest cities, Harare and Bulawayo are currently at stand still due to violent protests and strikes which have led to even loss of lives and properties.

Reports indicate that this violent uproars are only but counter reactions to the the gargantuan fuel price hikes. Petrol prices have risen from US$1.24 to US$3.31 per litre and diesel from US$1.36 to US$3.11 per litre; making Zimbabwe the world’s most expensive place to fuel a car.

The fuel price hike is also having its impact on the many commodities dependent on fuel, thereby affecting cost and standard of living.
