Zimbabwe is a country rich in natural views and fascinating landscapes

The name “Zimbabwe” is derived from two words of Shona language ‘dzimba’ (menaing ‘houses’) and ‘mabwe’ (meaning ‘stones’) and can be translated into English as ‘Big houses of stones’ or ‘honorable houses’. Zimbabwe is set in south-central Africa, between two of the well known African rivers the Limpopo and the mighty Zambezi.

Zimbabwe became independent from the United Kingdom on April 18, 1980.

One of the largest waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls, is located on the Zambezi River. It is wider than a kilometer and has a height of more than one hundred meters. You can heear the noise of the Victoria Falls as far as 40 kilometers away. Also Lake Kariba, the largest man-made lake and reservoir in the world, is next to the Zambian border. The country can also boast of Exotic birdlife, flora and fauna, highland mountains and wild life

Zimbabwe has 16 official languages. This number is more than any other country in the world. Only in this place, you can buy an item priced in South African rands, pay in euros, and get a change in US dollars. This is beacause it is a multi-currency nation.

Zimbabwe boasts of its largest platinum and diamond reserves in the world.  it is said to be the Ophir, the ancient wealthy country from which King Solomon got ivory, gold, and such other precious items.

The country is one of the smartest countries in Africa. 90% of the population are literate. But brand names do not matter here. Every tooth paste is  “Colgate” and every soft drink is “Coke.” It is illegal to sell products bearing the colors of the Zimbabwean national flag.

To Zimbabweans, a big stomach among men is a sign of wealth. It implies that they can afford meat daily.
