ZINARA TO RELOCATE DEMA TOLLGATE DUE TO PRESSURE IN ZIMBABWE

Zinara set to relocate tollgate after residents submit a request for it to be move to new area.

Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (zinara) has bow to pressure to remove the tollgate. The parastatal obey the wishes from Dema residents as they are unhappy with it in their area. Zinara is also looking for a new location to install the tollgate after the relocation process kick-off.

Zinara spokesperson Augustine Moyo said “zinara advise the residents of Dema and surrounding areas that their concerns is in progress. He also said they have taken note and action for the request by the residents.”

According to him all necessary procedures to ensure the relocation of the tollgate have been done. The parastatal is currently waiting for the pre-requisite in terms of the law. It will also awaiting announcing  of the new site in the Government Gazette.

The move for the tollgate to be remove came after Chitungwiza and Manyame residents recently wrote a letter to zinara. In the letter, the resident request that the parastatal speeds up the process of relocating the tollgate to a strategic place.

Meanwhile, the Chitungwiza and Manyame Rural Residents Association (CAMERA), Director Marvellous Kumalo who said that passing through the tollgate often result in huge traffic. He also said residents complain that motorist are hold up during the peak period which makes them find it difficult reaching their destination on time.

The relocation will kick-off after the new site is announce and construction will kick-off immediately according to Moyo.
