Chinese firm CCECC gets railway contract in Nigeria.

Chinese firm China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) won the contract for the railway project. The project will also help link lagos and kano state in the nation. It will also help the Ibadan-Kaduna segment of the Lagos-Kano rail line.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi said “This agreement is for the Ibadan-Kaduna rail line, which is part of the Lagos-Kano rail line. He also said that the completion time of the contract should be between two to three years.”

The project is to fulfill part of the Federal Government’s plan to complete the Lagos-Kano rail modernisation project. The ministry of transportation will provide its counterpart funding between 2018 and 2019 budget provision.

The project are in different segment. Its first segment was the Abuja-Kaduna rail line which kick-off in 2011 and was commission in 2016 by the President of the nation. Furthermore, the second segment will kick-off in March 2017 and is still in progress.
