EGYPT AND DENMARK TO EXPAND ENERGY SECTOR WITH NEW PARTNERSHIP
Egypt to benefit from Denmark’s Strategic Sector Cooperation programme to grow the energy sector.
Egypt and Denmark is planning a new Strategic Sector Cooperation programme (SSC) in Egypt. This is coming after Denmark announced the appointment of an energy adviser to work with their Danish Energy Agency (DEA).
The new adviser Tomas Anker Christensen has a good experience in developing and financing of energy renewable projects. He will also liaise directly with the Egyptian Stakeholders as well as providing technical assistance in energy regulations.
The new partnership will aim to facilitate government to government collaboration by making Danish expertise available to Egypt. It also forms part of Egypt’s plans in line with their sustainable development 2023 vision.
Tomas Anker Christensen said ”Denmark is keen to expand its long-standing cooperation with Egypt. He also said that placing an energy adviser at the embassy is a win-win for both countries.”
The Strategic Sector Cooperation programme (SSC) will focus on deployment and integration of renewable energy in Egyptian energy system. It will also make the DEA to support the Zafarana wind farm project through the danish mixed credit programme.
This Strategic Sector Cooperation programme (SSC) also opens new marketing and investment opportunities in sector-specific projects such as urban development, agriculture, energy, environment, water etc. This will help in the local market as it will aim to meet the global demand for sustainable solution in the emerging markets.
