GHANA PRESIDENT INSPECTS WORKS ON ODAW RIVER DREDGING

Dredging work inspection been carried-out by Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was on site to inspect dredging work at odaw river. The project which kick-off in 2016 was aim at allowing the free flow of stormwater. This is after it has claimed so many a life in the catchment areas.

During the inspection, Dredge Masters experts showed the President pictorial designs of the overhauling process for the Odaw River and Korle Lagoon. The design will improve the area into a modern asset plus also attract tourists and business activities in the city of Accra.

The project is under Accra Sanitary Sewer Storm Drainage Alleviation. Meanwhile, Dredge Masters will desilt and dredge the Odaw channel and restore the Korle Lagoon. This will be by averting the perennial flooding in Accra which is part of the contract agreement.

Operations Manager of Dredge Masters, Mr. Sena Adiepena said “Work under the initial contract was completed in march 2017. He also said designs on civil works are still ongoing.”

According to him, contract renewal has result in the removal of over 1 million cubic meters of dredged materials from the channel and lagoon.

Dredge of the project began in june 2016, a year after the June 3 disaster which claimed several life and destroy properties worth million of cedis.
