NAIROBI WATER SUPPLY TO BE BOOST BY TUNNEL CONSTRUCTION
Northern water collector tunnels currently undergoing is expected to increase supply of water after construction.
The tunnel construction tag ”Northern Water Collector tunnel” is to collect water whereby increasing Nairobi water supply by 140m litres. The construction of the tunnel is worth US $65.28m and will be completed next year.
The Northern Water Collector tunnel is in line with Kenya Vision 2030 which is to ensure improvement on water services in Nairobi, Kiambu and Muranga Counties.
Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko; “This will boost water supply to the county which receives 520m litres against a demand of 750m litres.”
According to him; ”An additional 100m litres or more will be supplied to the city through the construction and completion of Karimeni 2 and Ruiru 2 dams.”
The construction which is currently taking place is expected to be completed in 2018.
