NATIONAL ARCHIVES CENTRE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS IN RWANDA
Construction of National archives centre in Rwanda kick-off which will be the central point of reference for the country’s records.
Construction of a National archive centre in Rwanda has kick-off. The Centre which is will be build in Kacyiru below Rwanda Broadcasting Agency. It will also be the central point of reference for the country’s records.
Project Manager from Fair Construction Ltd, Boothalingam Subramanian said “Everything is going right and we hope end right to time. He also said this central building will ensure that the national archives – digital, automated and hard copy files – are permanently store in one place.”
The building will among other things address the issues of file keeping in the country. It will also accommodate the Rwanda Archive and Library Services Authority (RALSA). Meanwhile the rent that RALSA has been incurring annually will be reduce.
The facility will have 10 stories and will among others host a research center. It will also have a historical library, exhibition and computer laboratory, reprographic service room, electronic and digitalization records sections and cafeteria among others.
Construction of the project is worth Rwf10 billion and will be finance in three different phases. According to report, the national archives centre will help the nation to elaborate how the country could effectively collect its records and keep them for future generations.
