SEYCHELLES TO INSTALL FIRST FLOATING SOLAR PV PLANT IN AFRICA

Tender process in place for the construction of Africa’s first floating solar pv plant in Seychelles.

The construction of Africa first floating solar pv plant is set to kick-off after tender plans was launch. The floating solar pv plant will help grow the country economic. It will also be the first salt-water floating solar PV plant in the world.

The tender stage was launch on april 26 of this year. Meanwhile qualified bidders will develop, finance, own and operate the project for a period of 20 years.

Lagoon le Rocher is where the construction of the plant will take place. The place was choose because it has a shallow body of water which separate the sea by the Providence Industrial Estate, on Mahé Island.

Seychelles Energy Commission (SEC) is in charge of implementing the tenders. Meanwhile the eventual off-taker of the project will be by the Public Utility Corporation (PUC).

African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) is supporting the tender process due to their legal advices and technical assistance when it comes to negotiation of complex commercial transactions. Furthermore, Trinity International and Multiconsult are serving as the transaction and tender advisors.
