U.S issues visa ban on Ghana
U.S government has issued a visa ban on Ghana. This is after the Ghanaian government’s refusal to take back its citizens that were to be deported by the U.S government. This latest development will have definitely make Ghanaians go through a very hard process before securing a U.S visa.
The visa ban on was announced by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and also the Department of State. According to them, lack of corporation between the nations has led to the sanction.
Secretary of homeland security Kirstjen Nielsen said “Ghana has failed to live up to its obligations under international law to accept the return of its nationals ordered removed from the United States. She also said we hope the Ghanaian government will work with us to reconcile these deficiencies quickly.”

The sanction will take place immediately as top diplomat have instructed the U.S consular officers in Ghana to impose visa restrictions. This restriction will only be on certain categories of applicants, which the DHS statement did not specify.
